Win the War on Cartridge Waste

Thank you to the constituents of Morphett for helping to recycle printer cartridges through the Planet Ark printer cartridge recycling program. In the past 12 months more than 11kg of ink cartridges have been collected in my office.

In the last year, around 13,500 cartridges were diverted from landfill every working day through ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark'. Overall, more than 34 million cartridges have been recycled and approximately 14,500 tonnes of valuable resources such as metals and plastics.

“I encourage all residents to recycle their used cartridges,” says Dr Duncan McFetridge MP, Member for Morphett. “The success of this program over the past fourteen years shows how easy it is for the public to get involved and the real difference our actions can make to the environment.”

Participating manufacturers - Brother, Canon, Epson, HP, Konica Minolta, and Kyocera - have partnered with Planet Ark to collectively ensure the responsible recycling of ink, laser cartridges, toner bottles and other items. The ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' recycling program is free, convenient, independently audited, and coordinated through a network of over 30,000 locations nationwide.

Just a reminder that residents can bring their used printer cartridges to the special collection box located in my office at 4 Byron Street, Glenelg.
